Dive Medic Technician

The DMT course will upgrade the recreational diver who is looking for advanced medical skills to become an professional medical asset to the diving community.

Course Description

“Dive Medical Technicians make safer, more prepared

and more experienced divers.”

There is a requirement for professional and recreational divers to have a medical certification. Basic First Aid courses provide a good foundation for emergencies but do not provide the medical training needed for the diving community.

The DMT builds on first aid skills and brings the diver up to the level of the Emergency Medical Technician with additional Dive Medicine topics. The CoROM DMT course follows the guidelines from the  Diver Alert Network and the Wilderness Medical Society.

DMT certification consists of three modules:

Online Training Module:

40 hours of online training.

Classroom Training Module:

6 days of classroom based training consisting of lectures, hands on training, a visit to the hyperbaric chamber and exams.

All non EMT delegates are required to sit the EMT Basic exam and skills stations on the first day of the DMT class.

Clinical Training Module:

40 hours of clinical placement in Malta or delegates can arrange their own placements with approval from the training cadre.

Accommodation

We can recommend hotels in the area that will have corporate rates for Merit Training students. There are plenty of options in Pretty Bay where the classroom is located.

Instructors

Both instructors have US Special Forces background with years of experience on maritime operations.

Malta based classroom

The classroom is located right on the beach. You will find the weather, the location and the Maltese prices quite desirable. Malta is a great place to relax from the stress of medical training. Dive sites are plentiful with visibility often over one hundred feet.

You deserve the best. Come train with the best.
